Who We Are

The Children of Rural China Foundation (CRCF) is a charitable organization that provides educational funding for children in rural China. We fundraise in the United States and target the Asian American community, Chinese-interest groups, and educational institutions. 100% of donations go to schools and families in China to facilitate the education of underprivileged children.

We focus our efforts on rural China because children in these areas are often unnoticed and neglected. The vast majority of charity programs in China are centered around the major cities, resulting in a growing education gap between rural and urban centers. The children in rural China face abject poverty, lack of upward mobility, and lack of educational resources. Through our fundraising activities, we hope to improve living conditions and opportunities for children, and to help educational development in rural China, one child at a time.

History

CRCF was founded in 2005 by a group of Harvard students across the various graduate schools. About a dozen students began meeting in the spring of 2005 to discuss the vision, purpose and goals of the foundation. In the summer of 2005, two of the founding members visited local schools and families in Xinjiang to gain a better understanding of the communities and children we would be helping. In January of 2006, CRCF was officially incorporated as a non-profit organization.
